Steven Patrick Ruggles

March 2, 1953 — June 11, 2023

Maricopa

Steven Patrick Ruggles, 70 passed away on June 11, 2023 in Maricopa. He was born on March 2, 1953 to Harold and Dolores Ruggles in Defiance, Ohio.

Steven was an exceptional man. He loved biking, shooting, camping, exploring, history, his children, his wife and his friends.

His greatest passion in life was counting. In kindergarten he was already adding columns of 3-digit numbers. It was no surprise that he earned a Masters in Accounting degree at Bowling Green University, and got a perfect score on his CPA exam in Ohio. He kept spreadsheets on his biking miles, blood sugar, weight, and ounces of whiskey he took for a nightcap that goes back years. He even kept his kid allowances on a spreadsheet!

Most of all loved his faith. He was born and raised a Catholic, but his wife is protestant, so, not only did he return to and attend the Catholic church faithfully, he also attended the protestant church with his wife so they could worship together. Now, he is truly home. He is in the arms of Jesus.

Steven is survived by his wife: Nikki Ruggles; his children: John Ruggles, Mary Gorby, Harold Ruggles, Stephanie Ruggles, David Ruggles, Cassandra Ruggles and S. Ruggles; his brothers: Mark and David Ruggles; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Service will be held at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Maricopa. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Casa Grande, Arizona. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on July 15, 2023 at Grace Community Church in Maricopa.
