Ms. Sara J. (Cook) Bernal, born September 4, 1942 entered into rest March 15, 2008. She is survived by her son Larry J. Cook and daughter-in-law Sharon Q. Cook of Sacaton; sister Wilma E. Evans of Blackwater; uncle Kenneth G. Hayes of Sacaton and many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Bernal was a life-long resident of Sacaton, Arizona and a member of the Gila River Indian Community. Ms. Bernal was the Administrative Assistant for the elderly nutrition program in Sacaton, Arizona. Ms. Bernal founded Ira H. Hayes American Legion Woman's Auxiliary Unit #84 and served as its first president. She served four terms.

Services will be held Wednesday, March 19 at 9 a.m. at St. Peter's Mission, Bapchule, Arizona. Burial to follow at East Sacaton Cemetery. J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud the Gardens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
