Rosa Lee Askins

June 5, 1929 — August 27, 2023

Eloy

An Arizona native, Mrs. Askins was born on June 5, 1929, in Tucson. She was a 1947 Coolidge High School graduate, met the love of her life, Harry Askins Jr., in 1948 and married in 1949. They settled in La Palma to work at the family store, H&H Market. They raised their two children there, and she recalled it as the best of times.

She was a woman of faith and a member of Coolidge Church of the Nazarene for more than 60 years. She looked forward to the day she would rejoin her "Harry." She loved to bowl and for many years was on teams in Casa Grande. She loved to visit and play dominoes with her neighbors. She enjoyed games, especially Yahtzee and Skip-Bo, and watching movies on the Hallmark Channel. She loved her family and was proud of them. She loved to brag about her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son and daughter, Marty Askins of San Tan Valley and Marsha Dyer of Tucson; three siblings, Richard Horton of Eloy, Jim Horton and Bev Jarvis of Tucson; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband of 58 years died in 2007.

Visitation beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, and funeral at 10 at Coolidge Church of the Nazarene. Burial in Heritage Valley Memorial Park.
