Michael Beers, 71, of Casa Grande died peacefully at home on July 30, 2021. Mike was born on August 30, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1952. He graduated from Central High School in 1967, the University of Arizona in 1971, and the University Of Arizona School Of Law in 1974.
Mike was in private practice from 1974 until he became the City Attorney for Casa Grande in 1980, a position he served in for fifteen years. In 1995 Mike became the Pinal County Public Defender and served for ten years, retiring in 2005. In semi-retirement Mike kept busy as the attorney for Central Arizona College, an assistant Casa Grande City Court judge, and a prosecutor for Superior, Globe, Coolidge, and Maricopa.
An avid golfer and Dave White regular, Mike was a seven-time Casa Grande Men's Golf Association Club Champion. Mike was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Casa Grande where he had served as an elder as well as a past president of the Pinal County Bar Association.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Sue; his children, Kathryn Halstead (Shawn), John (Lauren), and Patrick (Leticia); two grandchildren, Peter and Mary Elizabeth; one sister, Roberta Chrivia (John); and three brothers, John (Caroline), Jim (Jon), and Joe (Cindy). He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Leone Beers.
Funeral services will be at First Presbyterian Church in Casa Grande, on Wednesday, August 4th at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers; donations can be made to the Hospice Charitable Fund of Central Arizona or First Presbyterian Church of Casa Grande.
