Lucille Jewel Alexander

Lucille Jewel Alexander, 73, of Casa Grande died Aug. 7, 2007 at Banner Mesa Medical Center.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God. The funeral will follow at 10, with the Rev. Walter Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Mrs. Alexander was born Nov. 12, 1933 in Huntsville, Texas. She was a cook at the Arizona Training Program at Coolidge and Francisco Grande Hotel and Golf Resort for many years. She was a longtime active member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was president of the Senior Mission Committee and Pastor Aid Committee, was a board member and trustee, and sang in the choir.

Survivors include four daughters, Dolories Smallwood of Gilbert, Vinnie M. Andrews of Mesa, Lanetta R. Alexander of Avondale and Jessica M. Alexander of Casa Grande; her mother, Melvina of Casa Grande; four brothers, Marvin Rigsby of Casa Grande, Micheal, Kenneth and Harold Jefferson; five sisters, Scheryl Yardeough, Debra and Karen Jefferson, Ramona Mouton and Marilyn Reaves; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph A. and Randy Jefferson.
