Kay Bigelow, a compassionate member of the Casa Grande community and esteemed legal professional, passed from this world on January 25, 2024, at the age of 66. Her life was rich in family, service, and achievement. Born on October 1, 1957, in Las Cruces, NM, she dedicated life to her family and helping those who needed it.
Kay graduated from the University of Arizona in 1985, earning a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a Finance focus. She then continued on to their College of Law, to earn her Juris Doctor, in 1988. She set the foundation for what would become a prestigious career in law. Kay served with distinction as City Attorney, for both Casa Grande and Chandler, and spent several years as a respected partner at Gammage & Burnham. Even after she retired, she went on to practice law, often taking cases free of charge, for those that needed assistance. Kay was the go-to person, for all of her family and friends, when they needed not only legal or financial advice, but sound advice on any aspect of their lives.
Her legacy is carried on by her adoring family, including daughter Kristen (James) Valenzuela, son Andrew Johnson, granddaughters Haley (Mitch), Aryah (Tristen), Cassidy, and Andie, grandson Matthew, and great-grandson Arlo. She was also survived by siblings Dan (Marjean), Ed (Janis), Dixie (Cole), Dana (Dave), Sonya (John) and Serena, and many nieces and nephews. She was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Doris and Dan, sister Susan, and brother in-law Ross.
The Bigelow family invites family, friends and colleagues to commemorate Kay's life on Saturday, February 10th, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at the LDS Church, 787 E. Kortsen Rd., Casa Grande, AZ. A small reception will follow, where the family encourages those who attend to share stories with others, laugh and remember Kay. It is the family’s wish that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Doctors Without Borders, Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in demonstration of Kay's lifelong commitment to helping others.
With unwavering respect, we bid farewell to Kay, whose integrity and love have left an undeniable imprint on the hearts of those who knew her.
