Josephina Ybarra O'Dell, 78, of Chandler died May 18, 2009 at Odyssey Hospice.


The memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel in Casa Grande. Inurnment will be private in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Mesa.

Mrs. O'Dell was born in Relampago, Texas, and was a daughter of Andres Ybarra and Beatrice Ramos. She was a cook and worked at Flo's Coffee Shop, at the present site of Cook E Jar restaurant, for 20 years until retiring in 1988. She also worked at Ochoa's Restaurant and the bus station downtown briefly. She loved to play bingo every chance she got. She also enjoyed going to Laughlin with friends.

Survivors include four daughters, Gloria Y. Madrid of Chandler, Lola Madrid of Phoenix, Josie Mattison of Tempe and Beatrice Lindemeyer of Wichita, Kan.; three sons, Michael Madrid of Phoenix, Joseph and Ricardo O'Dell of Casa Grande; three sisters, Marie Ybarra of Lubbock, Texas, Anita Garcia of Floydada, Texas, and Juanita Ybarra of Texas; 25 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose A.; two brothers, Emilio and Federico Ybarra; and a sister, Manuela Martinez.

Memorial contributions may be made to a fund in her name at Wells Fargo Bank in Casa Grande.
