Jamie C. Macias, age 38, passed away on August 3, 2023. She was born on September 7, 1984 in Phoenix, Arizona to Caroline Saraficio-Macias. Jamie grew up on the Tohono O’odham Nation in the community of Covered Wells. She attended grade school at Santa Rosa Boarding and Day School and high school at Baboquivari High School in Sells, Arizona and Ha:sañ Preparatory & Leadership School in Tucson, Arizona. She graduated from Ha:sañ Preparatory with honors and was chosen valedictorian for her class. Jamie was a wonderful and loving mom to her two sons Keifer and Myles. She loved spending time with her boys, cooking, and watching sports. Her favorite teams were the New England Patriots and Arizona Wildcats men’s basketball. Jamie was a caring, outgoing, and fun-loving person. She was a skilled and competitive ball player and played little league baseball, softball, and basketball. Jamie was also a talented basket weaver, learning traditional Tohono O’odham basket weaving at a very early age from her grandmother Matilda Saraficio. One of Jamie’s squash blossom baskets, woven in white yucca and the root from the wild Banana Yucca (red), is prominently displayed at the Desert Diamond Casino in Tucson, Arizona.

Jamie is preceded in death by her mother Caroline Saraficio-Macias, brother James Val Macias, Jr., maternal grandparents Matilda Saraficio and Johnson Roy Saraficio, and paternal grandmother Imogene Wateuma-Martinez.  She is survived by her sons Keifer Quinton King (15) and Myles Val Duncan Simpson (7) and sister Lynn Marie Russell Romero and her husband Hilario Romero. Jamie’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Salt River Presbyterian Church, 1803 North Longmore Drive, Scottsdale, Arizona.
