Garth Kempton

ELOY - Garth Kempton, 86, of Eloy died peacefully at home on July 13, 2016.

Mr. Kempton was born on Feb. 11, 1930, in Fort Thomas to second-generation Arizona natives Deloss and Ora Packer Kempton. He moved to Mesa, where he met the love of his life, Eileen Huthmacher. They were married at the Church of Christ in Mesa on Dec. 10, 1949, an anniversary date they shared with Eileen’s parents.

He was a mechanic for most of his life. He enjoyed being a volunteer with the Jaycees, Boy Scouts and Little League and served on the Pinal County Fair Commission for 16 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cardinals.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and a daughter, Reed Kempton of Mesa, Leona Folkerts of Green River, Wyoming, Brian Kempton of Casa Grande and Farron Kempton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Delores Belarde and Karen Valenzuela; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd, Thomas and Marlon, and two sisters, Marge and Marilyn.

No service is planned at his request.
