Emma Costales

January 3, 1942 — October 31, 2023

Emma Rascon Costales, 81, of Casa Grande passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 3, 1942, in Carlsbad, New Mexico and spent her early years there. At the age of 12, Emma moved to Arizona with her family, creating many fond memories in Stanfield and Casa Grande. Emma’s life with Ernesto L. Costales, her husband of 51 years, is the legacy that her children and grandchildren will forever hold dear.

Emma was selfless and generous and was known for her boundless compassion, thoughtfulness, empathy, and kindness. Emma’s faith and family were the cornerstones of her life, and she served as the matriarch of her family, providing guidance, love, and strength to all. She was a devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where her faith found a welcoming home. Her dedication to her faith and her spirituality served as an inspiration to all who knew her. Emma retired as a Housing Specialist from the City of Casa Grande. Her commitment to helping those in need was not just a job; it reflected who she was and what she believed. Her unwavering desire to make a difference in her community was evident in her profound wish to help low income families achieve the dream of owning their own home. Through her love of her job she leaves behind a legacy of service and kindness that will be remembered by the families she helped for years to come.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Flora Rascon; her husband, Ernesto L. Costales; and her three brothers, Roger, David, and Roy Rascon. She is survived by her children, Ernesto R. Costales (Nicole) of Casa Grande, Lisa C. Harasha (Paul) of Tempe, Abel R. Costales (Kim) of Chandler, and Jaime R. Costales of Casa Grande and her grandchildren, Nicholas Costales, Marisa and Lourdes Costales, Justice and Noble Harasha, and Elisa Costales, all of whom brought joy to her life. Additionally, Emma is survived by her four sisters, Mary Lou McQuain, Elvira Macias, Neomi Tucker, Sonia Turner and her three brothers, Tony, Armando, and Gilbert (Jubo) Rascon.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 10th at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Visitation starts at 1:00 p.m., Rosary 1:30 p.m., Mass 2:00 p.m. and Internment at Mountain View Cemetery.
