Derek Leander Owen Johns

BLACKWATER — Derek Leander Owen Johns, 39, died on Feb. 18, 2024.

Mr. Johns was born on Jan. 19, 1985. He was a loving, caring person and a hard worker. He took care of others, loved to joke around and always held a smile no matter what.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Patricia and Ryan Newman Sr.; his stepmother, Michelle Johns; three daughters, Mariah, Kyla and Ariza; a son, Jordan; and 12 siblings, Elisha, Ryan Jr., Megan, Mark, Shawn, Terrence, Vanessa, Christina, Ashley, Heather, Candace and Brainard Jr. He was preceded in death by his father, Brainard Johns Sr.
