SACATON FLATS — Brenda Jane Allison, 70, died peacefully at home with her family on Feb. 7, 2024.
Mrs. Allison was born on Dec. 16, 1953, at Fort Defiance to Cecil and Florence Martinez, who both died a few months after she was born. She remained with her two older brothers, Ronnie and Marvin Martinez, and they grew up with many foster care families. She met Helen Piceno, who became a sister to her. On Nov. 6, 1971, she caught the eye of her future husband and lifelong partner, Clyde Allison. At first, she ignored his advances until Clyde had his sister Avis Allison arrange a meeting. From then on they spent all of their free time with each other.
On Oct. 31, 1973, Clyde enlisted in the Army and the future Mrs. Allison waited for his return in 1976. During his enlistment, she spent time with both of her brothers in Parker and in Utah. When he returned they found a minister to marry them and a railroad worker and maid working close by as witnesses. They traveled the Southwest before settling in Utah in the fall of 1988, where they lived for 20 years before returning to Arizona in 2008. She was a sweet, kind and understanding person. Being around her gave everyone comfort and confidence, and she didn't judge people. She brought out the good in anybody, and was everyone's mom.
Besides her husband Clyde, survivors include two daughters, Florence and Kimberly Allison; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons Wesley Kyle Allison and Clyde Allison Jr.
