Alverna Francine Florez

Alverna Francine Florez, 69, of Ak-Chin Indian Community died on December 9, 2023. She was born to Jonas Miguel and Matilda Antone on December 10, 1953, in Ak-Chin Indian Community Village.  

Alverna was a very loving woman. Not only did she love her family, but she also saw everyone as her own. She was a caring mother, sister, grandmother and cherished every moment spending time with all her family. Alverna enjoyed making traditional Native American baskets, crate paper flower making, gardening, and Traditional Native American singing, along with other crafts. She loved teaching the younger our traditional ways, such as basket making and songs. Alverna was the glue that helped hold our family together and will be dearly missed. 

Alverna is survived by her spouse, Ruben Florez; Children: Francisco Miguel, ShaMarie Florez, and Rufus White. Siblings: Janice and Benadick Miguel. Fourteen Grandchildren, Eight Great-Grandchildren, and Seven Great-Great Grandchildren.  

Alverna is preceded in death by her son: Isidro Miguel. 

The viewing will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, 5:00 pm at the White Residence, 45303 W. Pablo Ave. Maricopa, Az.  

Wake / Mass will follow, 8:30 pm at San Juan Church, 47463 W. Farrell Rd. Maricopa, Az. 

Interment will be Saturday, December 23, 2023, 7:00 am at Ak-Chin Indian Community Cemetery.
