Violet Molsen

July 6, 1918 — March 29, 2015

Violet M. Molsen, 96, died peacefully on March 29, 2015.

Mrs. Molsen was born in Chicago to Swedish immigrants, met her husband Gordon at an early age in church and married in 1940. She moved to Sampson, New York, while he was stationed in the Navy during World War II. They returned to Chicago, then moved to Hartford, Connecticut, where he worked. They moved back to the Midwest, to Wheaton, Illinois, where they raised their family. When their oldest daughter was admitted to Wheaton College, Mrs. Molsen began working there in food service and continued for more than 25 years. She was well loved by staff and students alike, and many students looked her up upon return trips to the campus.

Over the years she spent time in Colorado and Florida on family vacations. Upon retirement, she and her husband traveled in their RV, making many trips to California and Washington. They later settled in Casa Grande in their 80s and became involved with Trinity Southern Baptist Church and Fairways, where they lived. She was known for her great sense of humor, sometimes subtle, and a wonderful smile and sparkling, deep blue eyes.

Survivors include two daughters and a son, Dian V. Molsen of Casa Grande, Deborah J. Ball of San Diego and Bradford P. Molsen of North Bend, Washington; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, a sister and two brothers.

J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
