Verta Haygood

CASA GRANDE - Verta Haygood, 84, of Casa Grande died on April 15, 2016, at Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa.

Mrs. Haygood was born on Nov. 6, 1931, in Fairfield, Texas, and was a daughter of Ira Keeton and Curley B. Williams. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially at family gatherings. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking, shopping and watching western movies.

Survivors include two sons, Darnell Haygood and Eddie Tyler of Casa Grande; two daughters, Cynthia Haygood of Glendale and Alicia Haygood-Haley of Houston; and 19 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; two sons, Wilbert Tyler and Richard Haygood Jr.; and five brothers, Elmus, Robert, Nathaniel, Edgar and Lois Keeton.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
