Tammy Sue Devotie

June 26, 1963 — November 21, 2020

Tammy Sue DeVotie 57, of Casa Grande, Arizona was greeted by her father at Heaven’s Gate on Saturday, November 21, 2020 after a four and a half year battle with cancer. She had the courage and strength to push forward. By Taking her son to school and football practice, working every day until two weeks before her death, she never gave up hope. Tammy was the daughter of Pamela (Welsh) DeVotie and the late Dennis L. DeVotie Sr.
Tammy was a graduate of Chambersburg High school class of 1981. She then furthered her education at California University of PA- graduating in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. During her last two years of college, Tammy was President of the Delta Zeta Sorority and was instrumental in purchasing a house for them off campus.
She went through Girl Scouts achieving the highest rank and got a letter from President, Jimmy Carter. She was a camp counselor for two years. Tammy played the Viola and was in the Chambersburg High Symphony for four years.
Her first job was at Stoners Restaurant, then McDonalds. During her last two years of college she spent the summer working in Ocean City, Maryland, always her favorite vacation spot.
After college, Tammy was hired by the Neilson Corporation, training in Chicago. Then she got in her Chevy Cavalier and drove cross country to California. She was 23!
Then she was sent to Phoenix, Arizona which became her home. After 8 years she changed careers. She took courses in casino gaming and management, she got a job with the Gila River Gaming Entertainment, where she stayed till her passing. She served for 24 years. She worked her way up to the position of Cage and Vault Manager. Tammy loved her job and her co-workers, always being fair and understanding.
Her greatest joy was her son, Tyler. She never missed any games or practices, no matter how bad she felt. The last thing she got to do was to have a senior football son and mom picture, a tradition of Chandler High. Many vacations were taken so many wonderful memories.
Tammy is survived by, in addition to her mom, her beloved son, Tyler Mendoza, her companion Anthony Mendoza, her sister Denise Robinson, her brother Dennis DeVotie, nephews Justin Timmons, Zachary and Andrew Devotie, Dakota and Cole Robinson, great niece Katarina Timmons and great nephew Caleb Hoffman.
The outpouring of love for Tammy is beyond imagination. Lone Butte has a memorial on Friday, her Delta Zeta is having a zoom remembrance on Friday. Her wake is on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 3400 Mendoza Street, Goodyear Village, Chandler, AZ. At her request she is being cremated. Tammy would have wanted all to celebrate her life and not to feel sorrow for her.
In Lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to your local American Cancer Society or your favorite Animal shelter. A memorial service will be held in March in her hometown of Chambersburg, PA. J. Warren Funeral Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
