Sylvia Lavern Short

Sylvia Lavern Short, 71, of Casa Grande died peacefully on June 21, 2007 at RTA Hospice House, with her family by her side.

The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with Pastor Roy Edwards officiating. A reception will follow.

Ms. Short was born Oct. 12, 1935 in Phoenix. As a counselor at Park Place, she worked diligently to inspire the youth of the Casa Grande area to continue their education and to follow their dreams.

Survivors include her companion, David Guss; three sons, John G. Hollis of Prescott Valley, Dennis Hollis of Washington and Mark Hollis of Florence; a sister, Bobbie Chilline of Cave Creek; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
