Susan C. “Sue” Kirk, 74, of Casa Grande died peacefully at her home on Nov. 20, 2010, with her family by her side.
Mrs. Kirk was born on March 19, 1936, in St. Charles, Mich., to Maude and Charles Griffiths. She married Paul Kirk on March 12, 1955, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Bay City, Mich., where they lived and raised their five children. She was a cosmetologist and real estate broker and was elected Realtor of the Year by the Bay County Board of Realtors in 1977. She and her husband moved to Casa Grande in 1987. She was a manager for the cosmetics department at Walgreens. She also managed the hair salon at J.C. Penney and the Chaus clothing store in The Outlets at Casa Grande. She also served as a door greeter for Walmart, where she was well-liked.
She was an extraordinary designer and hand knitter who loved to create one-of-a-kind sweaters, infant christening gowns and baby clothes. She was devoted to her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband; five daughters and sons, Kim Gosselin of St. Louis, David Kirk of Casa Grande, Brenda Balok of Austin, Texas, Kellie Rumpca of Rapid City, S.D., and Daniel Kirk of Phoenix; two sisters, Mary Ann Barancik of Casa Grande and Deborah Yon of Bay City; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her younger sister Barbara Calcutt.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
