Sidney "Sid" Cowger

MARICOPA - Sidney Ray "Sid" Cowger, 76, of Maricopa died on Sept. 5, 2013, with his family at his side.
Mr. Cowger was born in Hervey City, Ill., to Lillian and Cloral Cowger. He was a truck driver beginning at age 15. He moved his family to Maricopa in 1974 and had many friends in the community. He loved old cars and trucks, country music and westerns on TV.
He retired in 2008 and spent his time puttering around "the farm" and the shop and relaxing on the porch with family and friends. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who called him "Papa Sid."
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Laveral and Darald, and a sister, Caroline Miskowicz. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sandra; two sons and a daughter, Randy and Tim Cowger and Tammy Escamilla; a brother, William of Chandler; three sisters, June Rohats of Georgia, Rosemary Frace of California and Darlene Jones of Missouri; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
