Shirlene "Tommie" Makil

BAPCHULE — Shirlene M. “Tommie” Makil, 51, of Gila Butte died on Feb. 22, 2011, at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the District 4 Service Center, with rosary recited at 6. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Saturday St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will be in Vah-Ki Cemetery.
Ms. Makil was born on Feb. 21, 1960, in Sacaton. She was a homemaker, a member of the Gila River Indian Community and was Catholic. She enjoyed watching sports, especially football. The 49ers, Sun Devils, Suns, Diamondbacks and Coyotes were her favorite teams. She liked shooting pool and was good at it.
Survivors include a son, Raul L. Makil of Casa Blanca; seven sisters, Verona Makil, Karen Lewis, Anna Figueroa, Doris Makil, Susan Gomez, Carla Makil and Gina Martinez, all of Casa Blanca; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Linus and Hazel F. Makil; a sister, Angeline Makil; and two brothers, Darrel and Daniel Makil.
