Sharon Margaret Garcia

STOTONIC - Sharon Margaret Garcia, 75, of Stotonic died at home on March 15, 2016.

Mrs. Garcia was born on Sept. 3, 1940, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She was an elementary school teacher, substance abuse counselor and a dedicated volunteer at St. Peter Catholic Church and within the Gila River Indian Community. She loved to cook, play cards, read and watch HGTV.

She loved all children, especially her grandchildren, and was very friendly and outgoing. She loved to sing and listen to gospel and country music.

Survivors include her husband, Manfred A.; three daughters, Memory Longchase of Peoria, Lori Longchase of Sacaton and Anne Garcia of Sacaton Flats; a son, Mario Garcia of Sacaton; her mother, Margaret DesCamps of Aberdeen; two sisters, Kay Miesen of Orange City, Iowa, and Sally Tafoya of Reno, Nevada; a brother, Bill DesCamps of Grand Forks, North Dakota; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, John DesCamps.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. today at St. Peter Catholic Church by Monsignor Ed Meulemans. Burial will be later in Westport, South Dakota.
