Sharon Leah Schurz Rovie

SACATON - Sharon Leah Schurz Rovie, 62, of Phoenix died June 22, 2009 at Kindred Hospital in Phoenix.

Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Mission in Sacaton. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 6 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Ed Meulemans. Burial will be in Snaketown Cemetery.

Mrs. Rovie was born Oct. 16, 1946 in Mesa and was a daughter of Herman S. and Hazel A. Schurz. She was a counselor for the Gila River Indian Community.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil A.; two daughters, Joyce L. Martinez and Jolene K. Rovie of Phoenix; two sons, Joseph Galvez and Donald Apkaw of Phoenix; three sisters, Eleanor Gilbert of Maricopa, Arlene Schurz of Sacaton and Majel Schurz of Phoenix; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Vincent Apkaw.
