Ruby Diwan

Ruby Diwan, 91, a longtime resident of Pinal County, died September 14, 2013 in Casa Grande. A celebration of her life will be held on October 12, 2013 11:00am at J. Warren Funeral Home in Casa Grande. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Wounded Warriors Fund.
Mrs. Diwan was born on October 4, 1921 in Elgin, Oklahoma and moved to Casa Grande with her family in 1935 to pick cotton during the Great Depression. She married a young farmer, Herman Diwan, in Florence in 1939 and settled in Casa Grande to raise a family and build a business in agriculture. Ruby was an active part of the Arizona Cotton Wives, American Cancer Society,
and the United Methodist Church of Casa Grande. Ruby loved to write, fish, garden, and spend time at her cabin in Pinetop. She retired with her husband in Tucson for 28 years and had the
opportunity to attend creative writing seminars at the University of Arizona, and published a short story in a local literary magazine. Ruby moved back to Casa Grande in 2007 to be closer to her family.
She is survived by her son, Fred Diwan of Coolidge; and Shirley Hoffman Naquin of Phoenix and Yuma County; grandchildren, Pam Christensen, Richard Christensen, DeAnna Diwan, Mikel
Diwan, Karen Snyder, Sherry Soria, and Cynthia Wright; seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman; brother, Billy Flowers; sisters, Joy Flowers, June Wood, Doris Russel; and one grandchild, Misty Diwan.
