Ruben Fowler, 57, of Glendale died Jan. 8, 2015 at Bella Vita Health and Rehabilitation.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at J.Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. A celebration of his life will be there at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Wayne Hale officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Fowler was born March 29, 1957 in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Elder R.B. and Mae Morgan Fowler. The family moved to Casa Grande in 1957 when he and his twin brother, Robin, were only a few months old. Mr. Fowler attended South School, later renamed Ocotillo Elementary School, and graduated from Casa Grande Union High School, where he was on the track team and won numerous trophies. He attended Central Arizona College after graduation. The family belonged to the Greater Evangelist Temple Church of God in Christ, and he served as a kindergarten Sunday school teacher until he joined the U.S. Army. Family members said he enjoyed reading and keeping up with history and politics. His brother Renaldo remembered him as being the smart one in the family. He also loved spending time with his family.
He is survived his father, who lives in Casa Grande; six brothers: Renaldo Fowler of Phoenix; the Rev. Paul Wayne Hale of Dallas, Texas; Jimmy H. Robertson and Greg G. Fowler of Casa Grande; and Rickey L. and Robin Fowler of Salem, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Bobby Wayne Haggan.
