Ronald Joseph Apkaw

SACATON — Ronald Joseph Apkaw, 22, died on July 17, 2013.

Visitation will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Thursday at the District 3 Service Center. The funeral will be at 6 a.m. Friday at Upper Santan Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Aaron Johns officiating. Burial will be in Vah-Ki Cemetery.

Mr. Apkaw was born on April 22, 1991, in Phoenix. He was a cook and enjoyed being with family and friends and helping people. He liked to cook and play basketball and was full of life.

Survivors include two sons, Nicholas Apkaw of Komatke and Alexander Jackson of Casa Blanca; his mother, Patsy L. Johns of Sacaton; a brother, Meinard Knox Jr. of Upper Santan; and two sisters, Cynthia A. Apkaw of Sacaton and Star A. Ruiz of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his father, Santarita Apkaw; grandparents, Patrick Johns Sr., Amanda Ramon and Geraldine Vincent; and great-grandmother Anita Apkaw.
