Robert Vela

SANTAN — Robert Ulate "Mijo" Vela Jr., 23, of Chandler died on Dec. 23, 2011, at home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at the District 4 Service Center, with rosary recited at 6. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Mission by the Rev. John Cunningham. Burial will be in St. Anne Cemetery.
Mr. Vela was born on Jan. 23, 1988, in Phoenix. He worked in hospital linen services. He liked to play and watch football and basketball, especially the Cardinals and Suns. He liked to do anything outdoors, including hiking. He wasn't afraid of getting his hands dirty and enjoyed working with his dad. He was sociable, loving and full of energy. He loved music, dancing, clubbing and spending time with his brothers and friends.
Survivors include his parents, Josephine and Robert Vela Sr. of Chandler; three brothers, Ray A. Ulate, Christopher R. and Michael J. Vela, all of Chandler; a sister, Valerie M. Vela of Chandler; and grandparents, Linda Havier of Sacaton, Elva Vela of Chandler and Joe M. Ulate of Chandler.
