ARIZONA CITY — Robert Kimball “Kim” Curtis, 80, of Arizona City died on March 25, 2010 at Sun Valley Care Home under the care of Hospice Compassus.
Mr. Curtis was born on March 3, 1930 at the family home near Adrian, Mich., the fourth child of Robert C. and Mae L. Green Curtis. He attended a rural school and graduated in 1947 from Adrian High School. He ran the family dairy farm and worked at Tecumseh Products. Later he became a Snap-on Tool dealer and an auto body repairman.
He married Lois Nearhood in 1963, and in 1978 they moved to Las Vegas, Nev., where he worked for Cashman Cadillac before retiring. They enjoyed RV’ing and were full-time travelers for nine years, using the SKP Co-op park near Casa Grande as a home base. In 2002 they settled in Arizona City. He was a member of Good Sam Club, Escapees and was founder of a Plumb Nuts camping club. He was a past master of the Adrian Masonic Lodge, a life member of Fairfield Lodge 125 and a member of Fairfield Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 224. He also had been a member of Scottish Rite and a Shriner. During his retirement he became interested in his family history and researched and wrote two family books. He was a member of Palo Verde Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution.
Survivors include the mother of his children, A. Jane Perritt of Marine City, Mich.; his wife of more than 46 years, Lois; four sons, Robert of Alexandria, Va., Ronald of South Padre Island, Texas, Randal of Gaylord, Mich., and Richard of Clarkston, Mich.; a daughter, Tracie Compton of Apache Junction; two sisters, Francis Case and Martha Chaloner; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn, and a brother, Almond.
At Mr. Curtis’ request, no service will be held. Cremation was handled by J. Warren Funeral Services, and burial of remains will be in East Rome Cemetery west of Adrian.
