SACATON — Richard "Buddy" Milda Jr., 81, died on Jan. 16, 2012, in Mesa.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday at the District 5 Veterans Building in Casa Blanca. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Vah-Ki Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Vah-Ki Cemetery.
Mr. Milda was born on Nov. 19, 1930, in Sacaton and was a son of Clemencia and Richard Milda Sr. He served in both the Marine Corps and Air Force. A Korean War veteran, he was decorated with two purple hearts while in the Marine Corps.
After serving in the military, he lived in San Jose, Calif., working as an electrician. In the mid-1960s he returned to Arizona, where he lived the rest of his life. He worked as an irrigator in the family farming operation. Mechanically inclined, he would utilize his skills fixing vehicles and repairing radios and televisions. He enjoyed traveling with his family and attending veterans events. In his younger years, he was a bareback bronc rider, competing in local rodeos.
Survivors include a brother, Larry Milda of Sacaton; three sisters, Richenda Deeringwater of Mesa, Lucille Morago of Sacaton and Bernice Enos of Santan; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale, and three sisters, Peggy, Darlene and Olita.
