Richard Earl Wensel

SCOTTSDALE - Richard Earl "Dick" Wensel, 75, of Scottsdale died May 3, 2008 at Hospice of Arizona's "Butterfly Unit."


A celebration of his life will begin at 3 p.m. May 17 at Scottsdale Bible Church Chapel, 7601 E. Shea Blvd.

Mr. Wensel was born April 11, 1933 in Austin, Minn. He was raised in Flagstaff and attended Northern Arizona University. He served four years in the Navy.

He was a self-employed real estate developer, investor and entrepreneur in Texas and Arizona. He was a co-founder of Wen-Clay International.

Survivors include his wife, Delyce; a son, Leroy Wensel of Scottsdale; two daughters, Colleen Wilhite of Casa Grande and Annette Smith of Chandler; a stepson, Mike Underwood of Castle Pines, Colo.; a sister, Georgianne "Jo" Wensel of Spokane, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
