Raymond Cervantes

August 31, 1958 — August 5, 2020

Raymond "Johnny Ray" Cervantes, 61, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. He was born in Mesa, Arizona on August 31, 1958 to Rosa Ruiz Cervantes and Fernando Rojas Cervantes. He was raised in Chandler, AZ and had 2 sisters and 4 brothers. Raymond proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1979-1983 where he was stationed in Texas and Korea. He was a hand Grenade expert and a rifle expert. He was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon. Raymond, aka Johnny Ray, aka Mono, loved telling jokes and was always making us laugh. He loved his torn jeans and t-shirt and he was a die hard Lakers fan. He was also a big music fan of Juan Gabriel and Ramon Ayala. We were happy to learn that he was beginning a new life with Dolly Ramirez and her granddaughter Stephanie, whose family quickly welcomed him into their hearts. He was loved by all who met him and we will miss
him dearly. Raymond is survived by his sisters Olga Figueroa and Vickie Katerski, son Matthew Cervantes, step sons Robert Leyvas and Alex Leyvas and many nieces and nephews. We will surely miss hearing him say "Mmm que la fregada".
