Ray E. Johnson, 65, of Casa Grande died at home on Aug. 12, 2014, surrounded by his family.

The service was held in Little Chute, Wisconsin.

Mr. Johnson was born on May 18, 1949, in Waupaca, Wisconsin, to Vernon S. and Lucille J. (Taggart) Johnson. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971 and worked for the Outagamie Sheriff’s Department for 27 years before retiring in 2001.

He married Marcia Christensen on Sept. 11, 1971, in Amherst, Wisconsin. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and Wisconsin Law Enforcement Association. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Casa Grande. He loved to spend time with family and friends, travel and make others smile and laugh. He was a very caring and giving person and enjoyed watching the Oakland Raiders, NASCAR and John Wayne movies.

In addition to his wife of 42 years, survivors include two daughters, Melissa Ausland of Anoka, Minnesota, and Laurie Higginson of Florence; a brother, Stan Johnson of Waupaca; a sister, June Johnson of Waupaca; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hospice Compassus or St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
