Ramona P. Mercado

ELOY - Ramona P. Mercado, 77, of Eloy died Oct. 6, 2007 at RTA Hospice House in Casa Grande.


Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 9 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Juan Carlos Aguirre. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.

Ms. Mercado was born Nov. 13, 1929 in Fabens, Texas. She was a homemaker and a school crossing guard. She was a volunteer for the Eloy Food Bank and school clothing programs and loved to help others. She enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Survivors include three daughters, Emma Martinez of Eloy, Lupe Moncivaiz of Casa Grande and Mary Cooke of Glendale; four sons, Steve Mercado and Robert Calvillo of Eloy, John Mercado of Nebraska City, Neb., and Manuel Mercado of Mesa; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
