Quintille "Quinn" Garmany

d. April 18, 2016

CASA GRANDE - Quintille "Quinn" Garmany, 91, died on April 18, 2016, in Casa Grande.

Mrs. Garmany was born in Oklahoma and raised in Texas, and she also called Washington, Florida and, most recently Arizona, home. As a child, she lived through the worst of the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression. A childhood memory of her life then was documented in a book, "One Christmas in Old Tascosa," published by Texas Tech University Press. In 1945, while teaching in New Mexico, she married Army Air Corps pilot David T. "Dave" Firman, a native of Washington state. Two years after David was killed tragically in a plane crash, she married John H. Garmany Jr., and for nearly 45 years they were dedicated to each other, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a teacher and an active member, volunteer and leader in every community where she lived. She served for years in guilds at Episcopal churches in Wenatchee, Washington, and in Pensacola, Florida. At her death, she was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Casa Grande.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, her first husband and a grandson, Tom Wade. She is survived by her husband; three daughters and a son, Susan Goodwin, Casandra Firman, David Rebb Firman and Hallie Ward; five grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, www.calfarley.org, or to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church camp scholarship fund.

A celebration of life will be held on July 23 at St. Luke’s in Wenatchee.

J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
