CASA GRANDE - Phyllis M. Drown, 84, died on Oct. 13, 2015.

Mrs. Drown was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1931 and moved to Phoenix in 1945. She graduated from North Phoenix High School in 1949 and returned to Columbus, where she lived a full and meaningful life.

She raised four children of whom she was very proud. She was an exceptional gardener, an avid reader, a costume seamstress and dresser for the Columbus Opera, and a crossword puzzle enthusiast. She retired as an executive secretary and moved to Casa Grande in 1993. She was kind, generous and intelligent and known for her sense of humor and independence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E., a retired colonel on the Columbus Police Department. She is survived by four daughters and sons, Carolyn Drown, Steven Drown, Patricia Drown Ellison and Gary Drown; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A family service will be held later in Columbus.
