Norma Helen Jepsen

Norma Helen Frens Jepsen Born May 25, 1926 and was carried to heaven in her Savior’s loving arms July 31, 2021. She was 95 years young. She was born in Batavia, New York to Marion Ella Grey Frens and Andrew H. Frens. She had one sister Bonneta (Bonnie) Mavis Frens Stafford. Growing up, Norma attended seven different elementary schools, five in Rochester, NY, one in Philadelphia, Pa and one in Burbank, Ca. She attended grades 7-12 at Charlotte High School in Rochester graduating in June 1944. She then attended Concordia Collegiate Institute in Bronxville, NY graduating in May 1946 with an Associate’s degree. Norma moved to Tucson and attended the University of Arizona as a Junior. In the fall of 1946 at a meeting of the Lutheran Students on campus she met Tom Jepsen Jr. They married on August 22, 1947 in Tucson, Az. and had four children; Peter Christian Jepsen (Sherri), Janet Adele Jepsen, Anna Beth Bartlett and James Alan (Herky) Jepsen. They have eight grandchildren: Greg, Tim and Chris Kruger, Stephen Fillion, Julien, Jerid and Krista Bartlett, Heather Beckman and five great-grandchildren.

They moved to Casa Grande in 1955 where Norma was eventually employed at Casa Grande Union High School as a secretary in the Guidance Office and later as secretary to the Principal. They moved to Coolidge in 1978 where Norma began working at Mary C. O’Brien school as secretary to the Principal.

Norma was an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church where she and Tom were charter members. She loved participating in the quilting group; making full-sized and lap quilts that were given away to nursing homes, shelters and the homeless.
Norma enjoyed traveling. She visited several countries around the world including the Scandinavian countries, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, China, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Russia, the east & west Caribbean, Switzerland, Austria, Mexico, Iceland and Canada. She also visited most every state in the US including Alaska and Hawaii.
Norma was an avid bridge player. She was a member of several small groups; however, she was always ready and willing to be a substitute in any club as the need arose. She also played in many city marathons.

Norma’s favorite things were pink, chocolate and Thursday night dinner & cards with her kids.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, her sister and her parents.

A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1428 N. Pueblo Dr, Casa Grande, Az.
