Mary Ruth Carter

ELOY - Mary Ruth Carter, 79, a longtime Scottsdale resident and formerly of Eloy, died on Dec. 2, 2014, at Hospice of the Valley in Chandler.

The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Eloy Memorial Park, with Pastor David Urquides officiating.

Ms. Carter was born on May 26, 1935, in Blevins, Arkansas, and was a daughter of Clennia and Bert Carter. She grew up in Eloy and had many fond memories of the town. She loved to talk about the good people she knew, the fun they had and her job selling popcorn at the Dust Bowl Theater. She left Eloy to attend Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher and the future Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. She was a hospital lab technician and worked with disabled children in Phoenix for many years, loved them and remained friends with many throughout her life.

Along with her family, her friends were what she treasured most. She enjoyed long walks, movies and connecting with many of her friends through social media.

Survivors include a brother, Vance Carter of Camp Verde, and many nieces and nephews in Arizona and Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jo, and a brother, Wallace "Skip" Carter.
