Mary Ortega

AK-CHIN - Mary Francine "Flaca" Ortega, 43, of Ak-Chin died on Dec. 20, 2014.

Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. today at the Ortega home, with a wake following. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Mission. The Rev. Gregory Rice and Deacon Bill DeMarco will officiate. Burial will be in Ak-Chin Cemetery.

Mrs. Ortega was born on Oct. 8, 1971, in Phoenix. She was a homemaker and was devoted to her family. She enjoyed music, shopping, playing lottery scratch games and, most of all, cookouts with her family. She was always smiling, and she brightened everyone’s life.

Survivors include her husband, Manuel; three daughters, Marie, Gracie and Maite Ortega, all of Ak-Chin; two sons, Victor and Mario Ortega of Ak-Chin; her mother, Teresa Ramirez of Ak-Chin; two sisters, Malinda Velasquez and Erica Ramirez of Ak-Chin; and two brothers, Lawrence Batopis Jr. and Efren Ramirez of Ak-Chin. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Batopis Sr., and a brother, Ralph Batopis.
