BLACKWATER - Mary Jane Burnette, 60, of Blackwater died on Sept. 12, 2014, in Sacaton.

Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the Gila River District 1 Multipurpose Building. The funeral will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the Begay home in Sevenmile.

Ms. Burnette was born on Jan. 19, 1954, in Whiteriver. She was a secretary for the Internal Revenue Service for 29 years and enjoyed her job. A member of a boxing organization for youth along with her husband, she loved the children and was their No. 1 fan, encouraging them to strive to be the best that they could be. She encouraged the youths to have self-confidence. She liked travel and gardening and loved her dogs.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon F. Antone; three brothers, Leroy Burnette of Canyon Day, Mark and Dino Burnette of Sevenmile; and five sisters, Barbara Begay, Melinda Ivans, Bernadine Pope and Caroline Burnette, all of Sevenmile, and Veronica Titla of San Carlos. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Lola Burnette, and a brother, Fernando Burnette.
