Mary Evangeline Scavo

Mary Evangeline Scavo, 65, of Casa Grande died March 18, 2007 at home.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Thursday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by the Rev. Kevin Clinch.

Mrs. Scavo was born June 4, 1941 in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was the daughter of George and Peggy Cvetovic, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Anthony's Church and a parent volunteer in Casa Grande schools. She was active in the community, a founder of the Casa Grande Food Bank and its first director. She was a past director of the Senior Citizens Center in Casa Grande.

She worked on the founding of Seeds of hope and with Ruth Heywood on starting the Casa Grande Thanksgiving Day dinner. She volunteered for the Arizona Dept. of Economic Security. She was proud of her family.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph L.; four daughters, joy Schiele of Gemany, Marie Dailey of Tucson, Deborha Salmons and Laura Scavo of Casa Grande; two sons, Joseph Scavo II of Crossville, Tenn., and Christopher Scavo of Casa Grande; and 13 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Sonny Hannibal.
