Maria V. Ramirez

ELOY - Maria V. Ramirez, 86, of Eloy died June 30, 2009 at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 9 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Juan Carlos Aguirre. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ramirez was born May 23, 1923 in Mexico and was a daughter of Angel Visencio and Maximiana Hernandez. She was a homemaker and also worked as a foster grandmother for the Arizona Training Program at Coolidge for many years, which she enjoyed. She was a member of St. Helen's Church and liked cooking, gardening and feeding wild birds.

Survivors include five sons and daughters, Jesus Ramirez, Maria Abilez, Janie Ramirez, all of Eloy, Joe Ramirez of Phoenix and Elva Lile of Eloy; three sisters, Lupe Torres and Elisa Gomes of California and Altagracia Lechuga of Mexico; 20 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose, and two granddaughters, Rosemary I. Ramirez and Elva G. Lile.
