ELOY ? Maria Gamez of Phoenix died Aug. 29, 2009 at Maryvale Hospital in Phoenix.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 9 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Juan Carlos Aguirre. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.

Mrs. Gamez was born in El Paso, Texas. She was a homemaker and lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed her family, especially her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her husband, Cosme; her mother, Maria R. Arenas of Arizona City; eight brothers, Zacarias Arenas of Modesto, Calif., Pedro Arenas of Zaragoza, Texas, Ernesto and Pedro Arenas of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, Miguel Ortiz of Fort Hood, Texas, Octavio Arenas and Jose Luis Morales of Casa Grande and Arturo Arenas of Phoenix; and two sisters, Rosa Barraza of Arizona City and Angelica Chavez of Phoenix. She was preceded in death by her father, Pedro Arenas, and a brother, Jose Arenas.
