Maria Carmen Rodriguez

MARICOPA - Maria Carmen Rodriguez, 87, of Maricopa died on March 26, 2015.

Mrs. Rodriguez was born on July 16, 1927, in Mexico and was a daughter of Maria and Pedro Villa Montez. She owned a hotel, was a former president of the hotel/motel association in Sonora and coordinated road building from Nogales to Hermosillo. She was recognized with her husband as the first presidents of Little League Baseball in Nogales, Sonora, bringing baseball to the youths there. She also helped build houses for the needy and sponsored students for college.

She enjoyed doing puzzles with her grandchildren and knitting. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Maricopa, was a great cook and loved her family dearly.

Survivors include two daughters, Carmen S. Arabshahi of Bonsall, California, and Anna R. Delgado of Maricopa; two sons, Francisco J. Rodriguez of Maricopa and Juan P. Rodriguez of Nogales, Arizona; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose T.

The service will be held later in Nogales.
