ELOY — Marcos Silvas Jr., 30, of Eloy died on July 8, 2011.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at 218 W. Third Place, with rosary recited at 8. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church by the Rev. Juan Carlos Aguirre. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mr. Silvas was born on Feb. 20, 1981, in Phoenix. He grew up in Eloy and went to Eloy Junior High School, where he played football. He also played Little League baseball and at age 12 began boxing with the Eloy Boxing Club, continuing for 10 years. He graduated from Villa Oasis School and attended Santa Cruz Valley Union High School. He later received electrician certification through a job corps program in Tucson.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his children. He loved having cook-outs and was famous for his hot wings. He loved listening to all kinds of music, especially Bob Marley, and loved lifting weights, working out, walking and taking care of his dogs. He also loved watching and collecting movies and was great at cutting hair. He was very helpful and looked out for all his siblings.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Lou Salazar of Eloy; his companion, Toni Monique Othon; two sons, Marcos Silvas III and Isaac Manuel of Eloy; three daughters, Dasia Bojorques, Elisia and Araiyah Silvas, all of Eloy; a stepdaughter, Ariana Gomez of Eloy; seven brothers, Michael Silvas, Johnny Maldonado, Frank Sandoval, Eddie J. Ysaguirre, Martine, Faustino and Tomas Silvas, all of Eloy; and seven sisters, Jessica Salazar, Rachel Silvas, Toni Salazar, Christina Silvas, all of Eloy, Soyla, Corina and Monica Silvas, all of Tucson. He was preceded in death by his father, Marcos S. Silvas Sr.; grandmothers, Eva S. Silvas and Helen M. Guadian; and a brother, Mathias Silvas.
