ELOY - Manuel Q. Rodriguez, 87, of Eloy died peacefully of complications of Alzheimer’s disease on Jan. 8, 2015, at his daughter’s home, with close family members by his side.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 10. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 by the Rev. Alonzo Garcia. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mr. Rodriguez was born on Aug. 18, 1927, in Chamberino, New Mexico, and was a son of Jose and Josephina Quesada Rodriguez. He lived in Eloy most of his life and worked on many nearby farms. A kind and gentle soul, he loved Chevy trucks, baseball and dancing to all kinds of music. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include five daughters, Carolyn Barreras of Casa Grande, Flora Cons of Arizona City, Margarita Juarez and Mary Martinez of Eloy and Alicia De Leon of Casa Grande; four sons, Manuel Rodriguez Jr. of Eloy, Jose and Jesse Rodriguez of Casa Grande and Luis Rodriguez of Kingman; 27 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 65 years, Maria (Ordunez) Rodriguez; two sons, Samuel and Albert Rodriguez; two grandchildren, Michael Cons and Jessica Juarez Kent; and a sister.
