Lucille F. Mogck

February 12, 1920 — January 21, 2019

MESA - Lucille F. Mogck, 98, died on Jan. 21, 2019.

Ms. Mogck was born on Feb. 12, 1920, in Clayton, South Dakota, and was a daughter of Emil Roduner and Lydia Kapsch. She grew up in the Dust Bowl days of the 1930s on a South Dakota Farm. After marriage and having two children, she went to night school and became an administrative assistant. She worked for Boy Scouts of America, a private law office (which she loved) and retired as an administrative assistant for the regional office of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, all in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

After several years of retirement, she moved to Casa Grande. She loved being in Arizona and out of the South Dakota winters. She was devoted to her children and seemed to have endless talents and passions. Her activities included: painting and card stamping, being a champion in senior pool, being an adventurer (rafted the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, slept in the Mojave Desert and discovered and documented ancient petroglyphs), traveling most U.S. states, European countries and Mexico, being an avid reader, fabulous cook and baker, being grand worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star in South Dakota and being a Junior Master bridge player and master of several forms of needlework (including hardanger). She became an avid Diamondbacks fan and was willing to give some coaching tips anytime.

Survivors include a son and daughter, Stanley Mogck of Sun Lakes and Lola Schreiber of Scottsdale; a sister, Kay Williams of Denver; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Mabee.

Celebration of life at 2 p.m. on Feb. 22 at Fellowship Square, 6945 E. Main St., Building 5, Floor 2, in Mesa (activities room main entrance).

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley or Fellowship Square Library.
