Linda Sue Lancaster

January 10, 1945 — November 13, 2019

Linda Sue (Scaife) Lancaster, 74, passed on Wednesday, November 13th, 2019 at Banner Baywood Medical Hospital in Mesa, Arizona of natural causes.
Born Jan 10, 1945 in Fort Bragg, CA. she lived most of her life in Ukiah, CA and after a short time in Branson, Mo. settled in Casa Grande, AZ. for her final 20+ years.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Frederick Terry Scaife, and her parents Elmore & Kate Scaife. She is survived by her husband of over 30 years, James Leon Lancaster of Casa Grande, AZ, brother Don Scaife of Fort Bragg, CA. daughters Shelli Byers of Cloverdale, CA, Kelly Palmer of Casa Grande, AZ, Teri Nelson of Ukiah, CA, René Gilley of Southern California, step-children David Lancaster, Mitchell Lancaster and Shelia Lancaster and the little lights of her life, 11 grandchildren 4 step-grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
As a young mother, she was very involved in her daughters’ activities; being a room mother, going on field trips, in the audience of every dance recital, and softball game. During her working years she was a legal secretary then could be found with children again as an attendance secretary for schools in both Mendocino and Sonoma counties. Later in life her main role was the loving caregiver as her parents aged, grand/great-grand children were born and her husband became ill. A baker and avid quilter, her family enjoyed amazing breads, very fancy cakes and many of her daughters and grandchildren have the legacy of a quilt or in-progress quilt. Not only did she express her love of family and life in caring, baking, and quilting, she also enjoyed sharing time on the back patio, sipping wine or martinis, and telling family stories to any who would listen. We will miss her company after work, her visits when she come to town, and her voice on the phone when we need a recipe or just someone to talk to.

Linda was a member of the Eastern Star, Kingsley Chapter No.58 and her wish was for all memorial contributions be made to the Shriner's Hospital.

A private family ceremony will be held at the place of her birth on Jan 10, 2020 and a celebration of life will be held for family and friends in Cloverdale at a later date.
