Lester "Listo" Ramon

COVERED WELLS VILLAGE - "Listo" Lester Ramon, 89, of Covered Wells died on Oct. 19, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson.
The rosary service will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at San Francisco Xavier Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 6 at the Ramon home. A wake will follow. Burial will be early Saturday in San Jose Cemetery.
Mr. Ramon was born on March 11, 1924, in Covered Wells and was a son of Albert Ramon and Theresa Jose. A very traditional man, he enjoyed singing the songs of his heritage. Every year he would make a pilgrimage to Mexico for the St. Francis Feast in October, and his family wondered the last two years if he would make the next trip. Children would gather around him as he passed out candy and bags of potato chips. The last couple of years he gave away his shirts to those his size.
He was a very giving man and passed on wisdom and traditions. He took care of his garden, growing grapes and planting pomegranate trees. He was a carpenter and helped build the homes in Covered Wells. He also loved ranching and the cowboy life while he was able to ride his horse. He was well liked by all in Covered Wells and Palo Verde Stand Village.
He is survived by a son, Albert Ramon of Covered Wells, and was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Domingo Ramon, and brothers and sisters.
