Laverne Falls

January 4, 1934 — February 10, 2016

CASA GRANDE - Laverne Falls, 82, died on Feb. 10, 2016.

Mrs. Falls was born on Jan. 4, 1934, in Lodi, Texas, to Charlie and Willie Bee Campbell. The family moved to Arizona when she was 13, and she later met James N. Falls. They were married on May 23, 1949, in Florence. They had four children, and she was devoted to her family. She loved to sew, cook and visit with others. She also loved reading and spending time with her grandchildren, and she always offered food to her family when they visited. She reared her children in the fear of the Lord and aided many others through her church work to come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

In 1987 she became a state-licensed day care provider in her home and continued that until 2002. Many children and families came through her doors, and she always offered her good coking. She joined New Hope Baptist Church in 1955 and, known as Sister Falls, she served as director of the Senior Choir, coordinator of the Sunshine Band, with Baptist Training Union, as a Sunday school teacher and kitchen chairwoman. She was especially dedicated to the work of the Senior Mission Auxiliary and was a past president and vice president. She was an inspiration and example of a virtuous woman who loved people unconditionally.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years; four adult children, Gary Falls of Phoenix, Jackie Beasley, Denice Carr and Carolyn Falls, all of Casa Grande; a sister, Alma Hall of Phoenix; two brothers, James Campbell of Houston and Ralph Campbell of Phoenix; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Raymond and his twin infant Namon, Charlie, Marion, Edgar, Claude and LeRoy.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God.

J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
