Kenneth H. Meyer

Kenneth H. Meyer, 84, of Casa Grande died April 4, 2009 at home after a short battle with leukemia.


Mr. Meyer was born on July 23, 1924 at Deshler, Ohio, to Ernest and Edna (Hahn) Meyer. He entered the Navy in 1942 and served in World War II. Following his discharge in 1946, he moved to Lexington, Neb., where he met and married Leola Weirauch, his wife of 40 years. They later moved to Casa Grande, where he owned a business of delivering bottled water. He did this for 25 years and retired in 1977. Following his wife's death he had a special friend, Ella Mae Williams. He was devoted to her.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Casa Grande and Veterans of Foreign Wars and was considered the "Grand Daddy" of Safari Mobile Home Park. He enjoyed teaching others and considered himself a lifelong learner. He enjoyed walking and staying active. He was an avid reader.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Darla Bowden. Survivors include five stepdaughters and stepsons, Sandy Keiswetter of Cozad, Neb., Murvin McNulty of Elwood, Neb., Doug Bowden and Linda Thompson of Cozad and Mary Wear of Carlsbad, N.M.; two sisters, Marcile Riber and Jean Vanaman of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and several grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will begin at 1 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Ben Seller officiating.
