FLORENCE — Josephine L. Trout, 94, a Florence resident who grew up in the community, died on May 11, 2011.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. May 21 at First Presbyterian Church of Florence, with the Rev. Kelly Green officiating. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery.
Ms. Trout was born on Feb. 18, 1917, in Huntsville, Texas, and was a daughter of John J. and Mary O. Bugg. She moved to the Florence area in the 1920s and graduated from Florence High School. She attended Arizona State Teachers College in Tempe. In 1946 she moved to the Tolleson area and raised her three children on a farm. She was active in the community and served as president of the Cashion PTA, as a 4-H leader, as a Sunday school teacher at Avondale Community Church and was a member of a bridge club. She was a homemaker.
Since the 1970s she lived in Tucson, Pinetop and Lakeside. She most recently lived in Florence Gardens and Caliente Casa de Sol. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church and was active at Dorothy Nolan Senior Center. Her hobbies included swimming, cooking, sewing, singing and dancing. She loved to play cards and all kinds of games. Her happiest times were being with family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Joy L. Jones of Avondale and Jerri L. Green of Tolleson; a son, James G. Trout of Homedale, Idaho; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Billye C. Richards, Eva S. Large, Virginia G. McLellan and Mary Gibbons.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dorothy Nolan Senior Center, Pinal County Museum or First Presbyterian Church of Florence.
